Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Opinta uses only the cookies it needs to work. We have no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, and nothing that follows you around other websites.
That is also why you have never seen a cookie banner here. Under EU law, consent is required for cookies that are not strictly necessary. We do not use any, so there is nothing to ask you about.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Only the site that set a cookie can read it back later.
Cookies cannot run programs or carry malware. They can, however, identify you. That is exactly what a login cookie is for, and it is why we treat them as personal data and cover them in our Privacy Policy.
The cookies we use
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
_opinta_key |
Keeps you signed in as you move between pages, and carries the token that protects our forms against a common attack where another site tries to submit data as you | Until you close your browser |
_opinta_remember_me |
Set only if you tick “Remember me” when signing in, so you stay signed in after closing your browser | 60 days |
locale |
Remembers which language you chose | 1 year |
We also store one thing outside cookies. Your choice of light or dark theme is kept in your browser’s local storage under scheme, so the site does not flash the wrong colours while loading. It never leaves your device and is not sent to us.
All of these are strictly necessary or remember a preference you set yourself. Neither category needs consent under EU law. If you block them, Opinta will not work properly — you will not be able to stay signed in.
What we do not use
- No advertising or marketing cookies
- No third-party tracking pixels
- No social media tracking
- No cross-site profiling of any kind
Analytics
We do measure how our pages are used, but not with cookies.
Our visitor statistics come from Plausible Analytics, which is hosted in the EU and sets no cookies at all. It counts visits without identifying you and without following you to other sites. We serve it from our own domain, so your browser never contacts a third-party analytics server.
Separately, once you are signed in, we record significant actions in the app — completing a daily review, for example — in our own database. That happens on our server, and it stores nothing on your device.
Both are described in more detail in our Privacy Policy.
If we ever add analytics that require storing anything on your device, we will ask for your consent first and update this page before switching it on.
Payments
When you subscribe, we send you to Stripe’s own checkout page to enter your card details. Stripe may set cookies there, on their domain, under their own privacy policy. Nothing from Stripe is set on ours, and we never see your card number.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser has a way to do this, usually under privacy or security settings.
Blocking our cookies will stop you from signing in, since there would be no way to remember that you are logged in from one page to the next.
Changes
If we start using different cookies, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
